| Who We Are

Water Matters is a laboratory for applied research and projects in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics. Phenomena and processes are analyzed through physical and 3D numerical modeling (hybrid modeling). WML develops and promotes innovative projects with partners active in the world of research and strives to be an interactive window for a wide audience on the world of Water Engineering.

| What We Do

The Water Matters Laboratory (WML) is dedicated to: Advancing knowledge in hydraulics, river morphology, and natural hazard mitigation through physical modeling, 3D numerical simulations, and hybrid approaches. Developing practical, data-driven solutions to address floods, droughts, sediment transport, and climate-related water challenges. Collaborating with academic, governmental, and industry partners to co-create impactful research and policy-relevant outcomes. Training the next generation of engineers and researchers through hands-on projects, interdisciplinary thinking, and ethical responsibility toward water. Engaging the broader public and stakeholders by communicating water science in accessible, meaningful ways.

Water Webinars

The “Water Whispers Wednesday Webinars”, founded and initiated in January 2024, serve as an interactive platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange within the global water community. Focusing on key themes in hydraulics and water-related sciences, the series connects researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from Iran and around the world. It aims to bridge the Iranian water community with international experts and to remove discrimination walls in science, fostering an open, inclusive, and collaborative environment where ideas and knowledge can flow freely beyond borders. These sessions are held several times a year, providing opportunities to share scientific insights and practical experiences. Whenever possible, the webinars are conducted in hybrid mode, allowing in-person participation from speakers visiting Iran.

CHAI Talks

The “Civil Hydraulic and Aquatic Isues (CHAI ) Talks”, founded and initiated in December 2024, as a monthly offers a collaborative and interactive platform to explore and discuss key topics in water and environmental engineering. Led and moderated by the Water Chair members, Faculty of Civil Engineering, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, our aim is to delve into critical water relevant issues.
