Welcoming Dr. Salar Haghighatafshar

Welcoming Dr. Salar Haghighatafshar to the Water Matters Laboratory (WML) The Water Matters Laboratory (WML) is pleased to welcome Dr. Salar Haghighatafshar as a Visiting Professor from Kristianstad University, Sweden. Dr. Haghighatafshar is a distinguished researcher in urban water systems, stormwater management, and nature-based solutions, with a strong focus on sustainable and resilient approaches to water challenges in urban environments. His work integrates scientific research with practical implementation, contributing to innovative solutions for water quality improvement, flood mitigation, and climate adaptation. His visit to WML is within the framework of the joint research project: “Sustainable Hazard Assessment and Adaptive Resilience of Basin Systems (SHAhRAB)” Within the SHAhRAB framework, Kristianstad University brings valuable expertise in sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS), green infrastructure, and climate-resilient water management strategies. Dr. Haghighatafshar’s experience in linking research with policy and practice will support the development of integrated approaches for addressing complex water-related risks. In parallel, the Water Matters Laboratory (WML) at K. N. Toosi University of Technology contributes its strong foundation in hydraulics, flood risk assessment, and regional water systems, along with access to diverse and challenging case studies across Iran. This complementary collaboration provides a unique opportunity to bridge advanced European practices with regional needs and conditions. Through this collaboration, the SHAhRAB project aims to advance innovative, adaptive, and sustainable solutions for basin-scale water management, enhancing resilience to natural hazards while promoting environmentally sound practices. We warmly welcome Dr. Haghighatafshar to WML and look forward to a productive and inspiring collaboration.
